The 2018 Annual SHRUG GIS Workshop will provide a forum for sharing the latest GIS related technology, research and development activities. We bring engaging industry leaders from all around the southeastern United States, into a format which combines thought provoking talks, informative demonstrations, and lively, hands-on labs. This workshop will showcase ongoing GIS efforts in both government and private sector organizations, and will cover all levels of experience from beginner to expert. Dr. Varanka leads the Geospatial Semantics and Ontology project of the Center of Excellence for Geospatial Information Science.

Dr. Varanka teaches a Geospatial Ontology and Semantics course for the Geographic Information Systems degree for the Johns Hopkins University Advanced Academic Programs.

FSU EMHS Program


Emergency Management & Homeland Security Program has existed as a research center at Florida State since the late 70's - and has been teaching EM courses since 1996. They strive to provide relevant, realistic, and applicable education relating to classic emergency management, terrorism and counter-terrorism and intelligence studies.
